Non-dairy milks have become a rising trend over the last few years for several reasons, including dairy allergies or intolerance, lactose intolerance, and those that choose to avoid dairy such as vegans.

There are a variety of non-dairy milks are made from almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, hemp seeds, oats, rice, and soy. Brazil nut milk is not as common; however, it may be more nutrient dense, while providing a rich and creamy taste.

Brazil nuts contain selenium, a powerful antioxidant, magnesium, copper, phosphorus, manganese, thiamine, vitamin E, and healthy fats. Selenium is also known to benefit your heart, immune system, thyroid, and help promote cell growth.

One or two brazil nut can do the trick and provide one's daily recommended intake of selenium. One brazil nut contains about 68-91 micrograms (mcg). It's important to stay in the recommended daily intake of 55 mcg, while the upper daily limit is 400 micrograms.

Brazil Nut Milk is a great way to get your daily selenium intake for the day. Another great way to incorporate them into your day is to have 1-3 brazil nuts as a snack. You may even enjoy them paired with an apple or a square of 100% cacao dark chocolate.
