What is Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent fasting is eating in a certain windows, or in a cycle of periods eating and not eating, which can be from about 8-16 hours. Some people do it for religious reasons, however research has shown it has benefits that may help with weight loss, improve cardiovascular functioning, diabetes, and decrease cognitive decline.

I do not strictly follow fasting schedule. However, instead of eating every 2-3 hours, I feel satiated and energized eating meals every 4-6 hours. Of course every day is different; however, this has allowed me to revert my energy to accomplish more throughout the day.

Some people of course don’t do well with it, but it’s about finding what works for YOU and YOUR body. Learning about intermittent fasting and the benefits has been eye-opening. I never knew much about it until this year and I truly believe it has helped increase my energy. It takes a tremendous amount of energy for our bodies to digest food, so spacing meals or only eating in certain windows of the day allows for our body to repair and recover. The energy can be used for other things to help increase energy throughout the day. Eating high quality fats and moderate protein while focusing mostly on whole foods has transformed the way I feel. I have had the most energy I have had in a long time and feel faster and stronger than ever. Finding the foods that are trigger for inflammation and bloating have played a role as well.

It is important to be wise with what your first meal of the day is. It will help set you up for success for the day ahead. If you start with high quality fats, and moderate protein,
